Historic night in Succession

Anxiety is delicious when you know you will witness something historic. In the week in which several series say goodbye to us – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ted Lasso, and Barry, to name three – the ‘perfect’ Succession comes to an end today. Under the pressure of not being controversial like The Sopranos or a failure like Game of Thrones, Succession promises to mark the trajectory of TV with its conclusion.

Narrating the struggle for power as GOT did, but in a current scenario, Succession has the quality of text, characters, and performances of Sopranos, we follow in four seasons how the almost demonic Logan Roy (Brian Cox) deliberately destroyed the lives of his heirs: Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin). As the tagline goes: Rich as always, perverse as ever, it’s impossible to root for one of the three, who are fake, evil, and self-centered.

The penultimate episode appears to exclude Roman from the race, leaving Kendall still in the running and Shiv in the lead for the command position. But “winning” before the end of the story is not a good sign, ask Cersei Lannister or even Daenerys Targaryen. We are guaranteed a surprise.

Social networks bet on two possibilities: Greg or Tom, the two despised who rose and who know all the secrets of the family and the business. Lukas Matsson doesn’t want an active CEO (only Shiv won’t listen) which puts Greg, already confident, in front. But I still bet on Tom.

And now?
