Catherine’s Great Dilemma

If The Great could, it would pose Game of Thrones‘ motto – love is the death of duty – as Catherine’s (Elle Fanning) big dilemma in season three. Completely distancing herself from the true story, the romance between her and Peter (Nicholas Hoult) is more than troubled, it’s dangerous. The couple who hated each other and tried to kill each other practically from day one, really love each other in the series. He is impossible, but also the only one who tolerates his wife’s ambitions and inconsistencies.

We pick up Season 3 exactly where we left off a year ago: with Catarina disgusted by Peter’s double betrayal, who had sex with her mother, caused her death, and lied about it. As the empress attacked her doppelganger, she got the catharsis of actually trying to kill him, which for both of them is temporarily enough. They want to get right, but the opposing sides cannot coexist in peace and balance.

In a tense and merciless episode for those not up to date with the plot, The Great comes back with everything. Elle Fanning shines from end to end, in humor and drama, in a clear maturity that makes the accurate and accurate text even more interesting. She herself eliminates her main ally and enemy, without even knowing what happens. Tragic, funny, and a testament to how The Great still has more to surprise.
