“14 is the worst phase”, the entire cast of And Just Like That seems to be in tune, with the kids getting on the radar of the older ones. Not that they show greater maturity, especially when the topic is sex.
Nya (Karen Pittman) is discovering the pleasures of Tinder, Seema (Sarita Choudhury) discovers the superpowers of a Hollywood director, and Lisa’s (Nicole Ari Parker) weariness, after frequent sex earlier in the season, is from pregnancy close to 50. Are we on? There is more.

While Charlotte (Kristin Davis) almost looks different (we’ll talk more about her), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) pays penance for being without Che (Sara Ramirez) and still without sleep, thanks to the late nights of her hostess, Nya. Why doesn’t a successful lawyer rent an AirBnB like any mortal and need to lean on other people’s homes? Everyone but Miranda is having a healthy sex life, which seems to be the episode’s message. Ah, speaking of changes, Anthony (Mario Cantone) is strangely shy and wary of his new boyfriend. Who said people don’t mature? Che is certainly okay without Miranda because even she has already identified a new romantic interest.
Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is already in the new chapter, happy and at ease with Aidan (John Corbett), dealing with the fact that she’s going to be a stepmom of three (and already taking out her 14-year-old stepson, Wyatt). Have you ever been told that “14 is the worst phase?”. Ad nauseam in And Just Like That…
I’m glad the show ended her story with Big with greater dignity (she says directly and clearly that he was great, the marriage was great, and he’s gone), just as she’s confronted by everyone about how bad it was with Aidan in the past. Aidan is not a fool, he remembers everything – so much so that he refuses to enter Carrie’s apartment – but he bets on a fresh start. It was beautiful.

I still don’t understand how Carrie maintains the tradition of coffee or lunches with her boyfriend’s exes. Seriously: is it a weird baton-passing ritual? She’s been with Big’s two ex-wives (and with Natasha it was always embarrassing and more than once), with Petrovsky’s ex in Paris, and now with Aidan’s ex. The children’s argument still struck me as odd, but the early message of drawing boundaries with Carrie was perfect: do what she wants with Aidan, but not a line about her children in Carrie’s books! An NDA that we forget we have to sign before it’s too late.
Another energy of the episode was that of trying to put Harry (Evan Handler) and Herbert (Christopher Jackson) wonder about ‘losing’ their wives to work. That happens, but it’s the fact that we see a relaxed Charlotte with things getting out of hand that is positive. How it has changed! She doesn’t care about lack of control, about reception in her house without kosher or refined or perfect food. Brava, Charlotte! Women don’t have to be perfect.

Removing Miranda from the center of the drama did the series a lot of good, it became more fluid. So much so that joining Brady (Nial Cunningham) and Lily (Cathy Ang) – something the poster has already hinted at since the first season – was humorous and fun. It gives Miranda and Charlotte a new challenge, a different picture to paint of themselves. Charlotte still proved to be the same when she already dreamed of their marriage, but she is the other Charlotte when she already admitted that the romance will be fleeting. Only Carrie, involved with other teenagers, didn’t realize that her godchildren had earned a page for themselves in the narrative.
And Carrie – with not-so-subtle flowers back in costume – has finally ‘paid’ for the friendship she made with Seema, electing a new apartment (and what a townhouse!), to start a life with Aidan. The only sadness is Nya’s, so involved with the superficial that like every teenager, following her ex’s Insta, she saw that his life went on as she hadn’t expected. Precisely with a child, the same one she never managed to have. I’m worried about how she’s going to turn out, and I suspect the divorce won’t be so amicable anymore.
Thank you, And Just Like That for the extra love: we’re back with Carrie’s narration! It was only at the end, but it was exciting.
