A family drama behind a murder?

I must confess that the least interesting narrative – for me – in the first season of The Afterparty was precisely that of Zoe. And although so far we have not yet heard Isabel’s testimony about the death of her son, Edgar, she remains the main suspect ignored so far, ‘only’ because she is the mother of the deceased. I’ll talk more about her now. This week we get to know the rich and confusing life trajectory of Grace and Joe’s legal uncle, Ulysess. It wasn’t what I expected.

He had already outlined a long story that placed him as an undercover CIA agent, but in fact, his narrative is focused on the dramas of musicals such as Strictly Ballroom and Dirty Dancing. What is suspicious is his romance with Vivian, as well as the clear possibility that Grace is his daughter and not his niece. With this story, Ulysses excludes himself from the list of suspects (Edgar barely has any connection with him) and somehow exonerates Feng and Vivian. Unless the poison tea mistakenly ended up with the groom instead of Ulysses.

Well, next week we will have Feng’s narrative, who, alongside Isabel, leads my preference of “who killed”. It might have been an accident, it might have been another reason, but what a guilty face Feng has.

Apart from that, Isabel is one that strangely wasn’t called. I am now supporting Zoe who is upset with Aniq. He’s listened to Sebastian and Hannah, but other than that, only the people next to Grace have been considered: Travis, the ex; Grace, who was having an affair with her sister-in-law; Ulysses and now Vivian and Feng. Not to mention that Zoe’s effort to eliminate culprits and hide the tea (without going back to it) is also pretty weird.

We’re past the halfway point of the story and poor Edgar hasn’t even had a narrative that puts him well in the movie. Poor dead!
