Sabine and Ahsoka have the Force

There is a serious problem for Star Wars fans: there is the original generation, impacted by the trilogy that started the franchise, there is the next generation, which devoured the books and then those who saw the Rebels and The Clone Wars animations, etc. In the midst of a story that is rewritten along the way, there are also the pitfalls of trying to be like Marvel is, that is, crossing universes and characters, kind of pulling the consumer into the lucrative and rich universe of endless war in the galaxies. Star Wars often fails to maintain coherence in what it tells or in the personalities, there are holes that contribute to confusion. However, if you let yourself go, it’s delicious. The highly anticipated Ahsoka series has always been one of the most eagerly awaited by fans as it is in a way the live-action of Rebels and Clone Wars and it doesn’t disappoint.

If you haven’t seen either of the two contents, you’ll have to settle for the brief explanations that the characters offer, without exactly understanding the (sometimes conflicting) relationships between them. You’ll also have a better idea if you’ve seen The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, profitably if you’ve also enjoyed Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor. They all ‘walk’ alone, but they are better together.

In The Mandalorian, we meet Ahsoka again, or we meet for the first time, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), a former Jedi who is on a mission to locate General Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). His whole story is long and dense, we’ll see how they summarize it, but for now, it’s enough to know that he basically disappeared a few years ago, with Ezra Bridge (Eman Esfandi), Sabine Wren’s (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) best friend. SORRY DIE-HARD FANS, THE SIMPLIFIED SUMMARY IS FOR BEGINNERS. Thrawn, as we know, is feared by everyone – bad or good – and Ahsoka knows the risk if he returns. Therefore, in the first two episodes, we see that Ahsoka needs the help of the brilliant Sabine, whose rebelliousness and resentment create a window of opportunity for the antagonists to go ahead to find Thrawn. Ahsoka – and especially Sabine – are more interested in finding Ezra.

We also meet again enemies like Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto), whom Ahsoka had captured in The Mandalorian, as well as others from Rebels and The Clone Wars, making it very clear that we will also run into Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen), but they are two new antagonists that win highlight: Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson, in his last role before he passed away) and his apprentice, Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), who have great action sequences. The protagonism was very much on the excellent shoulders of Sabine, who is co-opted to fight alongside Ahsoka in the adventure that begins.

Ahsoka’s debut was consistent, powerful, coherent, exciting, and promising. It brings female prominence in the Star Wars universe in the perfect tone, something still rare in the franchise that never explored the pioneering Princess, oops, General Leia as she could. Sabine Wren, for whom she saw Rebels, is a great warrior and it’s exciting to get to know her in the flesh.

For those who need to know more, there is a fever of channels summarizing the contents and contextualizing easter eggs. I’ll separate some to share. Without major spoilers, I recommend following Ahsoka. She lives up to her legend.
