The reunion between Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) was both emotional and harrowing. Friends at heart, partners in Jedi training and equally questioning the rules, both followed opposite paths, which would have been particularly moving if Anakin hadn’t succumbed to the dark side of the Force, transformed into Darth Vader, and caused so much destruction along the way. Ahsoka, as fans of Rebels and Clone Wars already know, remained faithful to doing good and helping, but there was – at least in the series – the lingering need to confront her Master. And it is this almost esoteric aspect that determines the importance of Ahsoka’s fifth episode.
With incredible images and exciting duels, the reunion of the two in the World Between Worlds, in which she is “dead” and must define her next step. She relives the past, she sees a possible present and future, where Ahsoka is being “tested”. Where Anakin failed, she wins and therefore returns to the real world as a “white” Ahsoka, in parallel to Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.

In terms of action, there doesn’t seem to be much, but the fact that Jason is the one who shows his potential to follow his father and locate where the ex-Jedi is is important. As Anakin reveals, he shows up to “finish her training” and that’s it, Ahsoka’s mission is determined by the conclusion that she won’t succumb to the dark side.
Ahsoka does not condemn Sabine’s decision to surrender to find Ezra and manages to connect with the Force to travel the same path even without the map. And so we should have the meeting with Thrawn soon.

It was great to see Hayden again in the role that immortalized him in cinema, now more mature and convincing. Anakin’s tragedy is one of the saddest in the Star Wars universe and his connection with Ahsoka, who surpasses her master, reinforces this.
Therefore, episode 5 is almost a catch-up for the uninitiated to understand the heroine’s trajectory and her very complex relationship with the franchise’s main villain.
