The Gilded Age’s confirmed dramas

Well, there are 30 days left until the release date of the second season of The Gilded Age. TV Insider has just released some dramas confirmed by the cast itself. Let’s analyze them one by one!

Bertha will have to deal with her children’s choices, opera wars, and the discovery of a secret involving George

In 1883, a year after “arriving” on the Upper West Side, Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) seems to be winning her game for power in New York society, but in season 2 of The Gilded Age, she runs into new obstacles. The main one is the coveted Academy of Music, which remains closed to those with new wealth. It is the war of the opera season in which the Metropolitan Opera took the prestigious place it still occupies today. But that’s the least of Bertha’s headaches.

After the presentation ball of Gladys (Tassia Farmiga), who already had a suitor rejected because he was not enough in Bertha’s eyes, according to the actress, the fact that Gladys is showing herself to be a woman of opinion is not to her liking. matriarch of the Russells and the two will clash on many things, especially when it comes to marriage. It will only help if it is notable and knowing that both are inspired by Alva and Consuelo Vanderbilt is not good news for Gladys… Larry (Harry Richardson) is kind of left more “loose” which doesn’t mean without problems. “He makes some bad decisions, and it wouldn’t be like Bertha to keep her nose out of it. She’s going to insert herself wherever she can to make sure her kids are on the right path,” Carrie Coon told TV Insider.

Obviously, anyone who followed the first season knew that the questionable Mrs. Turner (Kelley Curran), who tried to seduce George (Morgan Spector) and made veiled threats, would return later. And she will return. According to Carrie Coon, “we will see” her role in the Russells’ relationship, which, although genuine in love and trust, will have “some problems”. I don’t like to imagine why I broke the couple and Alva divorced her husband. Just remembering!

George, who wants to be the richest and most powerful man in the country, will also have to deal with problems at work, as we saw in the teaser. It will be curious!

Marian: new romances in the air, but suffering too

Our young lady, Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) continues to depend financially on her aunt Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) who, like Berta with Gladys, wants to marry her niece to the right candidate. She doesn’t dream big, but she doesn’t accept “new money” or candidates like Tom Raikes (Thomas Cocquerel) who, like me, saw his true character from miles away. Well, Tom Raikes will be out (he married someone else and the actor left the cast), breaking sweet Marian’s heart, who will be more skeptical after the disappointment. But that doesn’t mean she won’t have “temptations.”

Do you know the group that roots for Larry and Marian? (I already raised my hand), he won’t be disappointed because according to the actress they “will continue to deepen their friendship” and Marian “feels relief when she is close to him”. However, if there is something rare that Bertha and Agnes will agree on, it is to prevent friendship from turning into love. Marian is poor and Larry is nouveau riche. No people, it won’t be this season that they will be together and although Marian fits the definition of “wrong decision”, another tip that Louise Jacobson shared is that Agnes and her pragmatism will have a greater influence on Marian than Ada’s (Cynthia Nixon) romanticism.

Speaking of the sisters, we will have drama between them too, and because of Marian. Ada obeys the rules, but disagrees with Agnes’ influence on her niece’s future, but neither does she advise her to just follow her heart, after all, Tom Raikes almost ruined her reputation.

Furthermore, Ada’s personal life will have new developments when she insists on living a life separate from her sister. Christine Baranski said it will be a “tectonic shift” and include opposing views on politics and women’s right to vote.

We still don’t know about many open plots! But let’s decipher it together!
