There is no likable character on The Morning Show. I’ve already complained about Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) and I’ll still talk about Alex (Jennifer Aniston), but the series has a frantic and brilliant performance by Billy Crudup as Corey and this is another “his” episode.

We see that Paul Marks (Joe Hamm) may be manipulating Alex into something bigger and the only hint is his relationship with Stella (Greta Lee). Stella is addicted to the billionaire’s game, even though she thinks she is in control, but she has existential doubts. She is clearly tempted to take Cory’s place but doesn’t want to give in to Paul. And it’s surprising what happens next.

We meet Cory’s mother, a political advisor who has a complex relationship with him. Having to face her, Corey takes Bradley in tow and we finally discover the reason why the executive loves Bradley: he identifies with her. It’s touching and emotional, with the effective musical moment of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough like that classic to make us cry.

I’ll be short: Alex is like a duckling in Paul’s scam. The “leaked” photo of the two was taken at her house, how could a journalist like her not stop to ask? It’s because she’s in love with the executioner. Bradley will turn the tide. Will I bite my tongue?
