Theories in Murder at the End of the World

I had such high hopes at the beginning of Murder at the End of the World and I hate that they were unjustified. All the well-constructed suspense was thrown away in a plot that is needlessly confusing and almost tacky, a waste of Emma Corrin‘s talent. We meet Darby still grieving Bill’s death while everyone else, many of them claiming to be fans of the artist, is more than fine to move on. The detective writer’s unpleasant behavior is a crescendo of discomfort for the hosts and guests in a cat-and-mouse game with a murderer who no one understands why or who he could be.

In the middle of the meaningless tangle, of course, we have flashbacks of Darby with Bill at the beginning of their relationship, but in the present, she continues to use Artificial Intelligence to help her investigate, without pausing to think about who might be behind it. of this technology. Lee – a legendary hacker – claims that marriage and motherhood take away her time from doing what is necessary, and Darby continues to want to put together the pieces of a puzzle that is somehow obvious to me. But I already theorize.

Darby realizes that everything is linked to Andy Ronson and that all the guests have a connection, whether they are on the same flight or in relationships, which justifies his conclusion that almost anyone could be responsible for Bill’s death. Through her observation methodology, she is able to decipher and confirm that there were three people in Bill’s room the night he died. But that’s not all, among the information she deciphers she discovers that Sian was recruited by Ronson to lead his company’s lunar colonization program and that she pioneered robotics to “break down crippling barriers in society.” Here, my dears is the motive for the crime and the suspense of the series.

Here’s my thesis: Lee and Andy’s son is a robotics project married to AI. With it, the billionaire wants to colonize the Moon (or save the Earth? I’m uncertain). However, each of the guests will contribute to enriching the algorithm in some way. Bill discovered the truth and would expose it to the world. And everyone who also deciphers the truth is at risk.

Let’s follow? I bet I’m very close to the truth…
