The news that And Just Like That – whose third season will be definitive to mark the history of the Sex and The City franchise – will only return to HBO Max left some fans complaining. I am not among them. The series deserves a space and warning, it’s not that it’s long! If it premieres in 2025, it means it will record in 2024. And anyone who follows the recordings knows that we will only have a few months of ‘rest’.

The actor and screenwriter strikes are the official “culprits”, but at no point was it expected that we would see Carrie and Company again so soon. Almost all HBO Max series respect the platform’s rule of skipping a year and we can celebrate more than complain. The vote for And Just Like That was lukewarm, the premiere was confusing and many of us are asking ourselves what else we want to know about our fictional friends from so many decades ago.
There was a lot to do in a short time in this return: finding a solution for the absence of an important character, eliminating another extremely revealing character in the plots, bringing inclusion, and modernizing our now fifty-year-old heroines. It’s very natural to have moved away from the unanimity that Sex and The City was in the 1990s. Now it’s time to deal with the (many) inconsistencies of what he brought to the screen. After all, we only want Carrie if she looks fabulous, right?
