All the “strong men” have a ‘family film’ to call their own, in particular, to have a poster with babies and weapons. Maybe it’s a rite of passage in Hollywood, but here we have Mark Wahlberg starring in The Family Plan, a comedy that repeats all the clichés of other titles in the genre, without a single original reference. If you’re prepared not to judge, you’ll enjoy it.

Meet the Morgans: a typical family of five in Buffalo, with a steady job and kids offered to go to college. But Dan Morgan (Wahlberg) is obviously not the one it seems and is hiding a secret: he was once the world’s deadliest killer, but today he is retired and hiding from the past. Of course, they discover him, and then the adventure begins to escape those who are chasing him and along the way, when possible, warn his family about the truth.
A mix of True Lies and The Incredibles, but without the mastery of James Cameron or even the strength of Pixar animation. There’s actually not much to say about the film. If you like to laugh a little, disconnect from the world, and anticipate impossible fights, you may find yourself distracted. Clearly paving the way for a sequel, it is a vehicle for Mark Wahlberg using all the most classic formulas of genre films.
