Time passes so quickly that I am updating a news story more than a year after the last news. Whether due to the pandemic, or the elusive “artistic differences”, the fact remains that the film Faithfull, which would star Lucy Boynton portraying the life of the iconic Marianne Faithfull, is undefined. That’s right, in 2020 the film was expected to be ready in 2022, but we reached the end of 2023 with no one defined to replace the star.

The project that had – or has – Julia Taylor-Stanley‘s signature is listed as being in pre-production, but the status has been the same for over a year. Adapted from the singer’s biography, the film should cover Marianne’s turbulent trajectory, from a girl of noble birth who became a rock star, dating Mick Jagger and becoming involved in scandals in the 1960s in London, as well as the heroin addiction that led her to live as a beggar on the streets before recovering and returning to recording. At the beginning of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Marianne was hospitalized with a risk of death but recovered. She now lives practically as a recluse in her apartment in Paris.

At the time Lucy was announced as the film’s star, Marianne personally approved of her choice. However, as of August 2022, there is no confirmation that she will replace her. Let’s follow along.
