We can try to guess the winners chosen by Hollywood as the best of 2023, but we already know who will be in the running. Those outside the SAG Awards list can consider themselves outside the Oscars and Emmys. That’s right, the SAG nominees were announced today and as the voters are the same as for the other awards shows, it’s the best hint of what we’ll see on stage saying ‘Wow’, ‘I want to thank my agent’, etc.
In 2023, to show that the metric applies, four SAG winners – Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis – won Oscars. Indeed, SAG doesn’t have an award for best film, when it chooses the best cast, it’s their suggestion. For 31 years, since it was created, only four films ignored in the awards have won the Oscar for best film: Braveheart, in the first year of the SAG, The Shape of Water in 2017, Green Book, in 2018 and Nomadland, four years ago.
In 2024, thanks to the Golden Globes, we already know the favorites. Shall we go to the nominees?
