At the British Oscars, the same nominees as always

It was to be expected that awards on different continents would bring something new, right? Wrong. At the British Oscars, the BAFTA, the list of nominees reinforces that the problem is not necessarily with the films, but with the multiplication of tributes to them.

While the Oscars are heading towards their centenary, the other awards began – in general – 30 years ago, with their broadcasts gaining ground in the last 10. With an eye on the American market, there are so many that we have separated “the main ones” such as the aforementioned Oscar, the Emmys, the Grammys, the syndicated awards (Actors, Directors, Producers, Screenwriters – 4 separate), and the Golden Globes. There are also the Critic’s Choice Awards and the People’s Choice Awards. There are 7 (if we put those of the unions as one).

In England, the BAFTAs did not bring significant news. Want to see how we get the usual suspects? Oppenheimer leads with 13 nominations and Poor Creatures has 11. Those with the fewest nominations – just 5 each – are the popular Saltburn and Barbie. It’s personal, the same nominees and the same winners are announced.
