Who joins the 2nd season of The Serpent Queen?

One of the most entertaining historical series from last year with stunning sets and costumes is The Serpent Queen which, without Lionsgate Plus in Latin America, leaves us orphaned and anxious. As the recordings are still going on, we save time. I expect!

For the second phase of the story of Catherine de Medici during her regency in France, no less than ten new faces enter the story, which is sensational.

The most significant addition is that of actress Minnie Driver who will play none other than Elizabeth I, the Queen of England. With equal strong temperament and political astuteness, the two have never met in person (at least in reality) and will certainly have incredible duels in the predominantly male universe where both have to face machismo in addition to the expected political intrigues. You know what’s even better? The fact that Elizabeth I is announced as “a woman of style”. Have you already imagined the costumes?

Another highlight is the entry of Angus Imrie as Henry de Bourbon, the future Henry IV, son of Antoine de Bourbon and Jeanne d’Albret (Rosalie Craig), Catherine’s future son-in-law when he marries Margot (Philippine Velge), Catherine’s only daughter. serpent queen with whom she antagonizes everything. Henry seems uncivilized, but it’s a facade. In reality, he is a great intellect and player.

Of Catherine’s other children, we can anticipate that Bill Milner will join the cast as the complex and troubled King Charles IX, an immature man eager to “play” the king and get it right, creating problems for his mother and regent, just like Stanley Morgan enters as Anjou, the Queen’s favorite and capable of disturbing violence even by maternal standards.

Others with defined roles are Isobel Jesper Jones as Edith, a Protestant preacher to a group of loyal followers; Ashley Thomas as Alessandro de Medici, a man possessing great charisma and beauty and is the object of everyone’s desire; and Alexandre Willaume, who will play Montmorency, the wise and humorless loyal and serious servant of the king. In other words, Catarina’s antagonist.

Samantha Morton returns as the Snake, as does Emma McDonald as the fictional Rahima, one of Catarina’s greatest confidants. The premiere date has not yet been confirmed, but we look forward to confirmation!
