Nominees for the 76th Emmy Awards, or the 2024 Emmys, will be announced in July. That’s right, we will have two awards in 2024 due to the delay of last year’s party. Therefore, everything that aired between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024, can be considered.
The party will be in September, as is traditional, on the 15th. But we can already start to speculate about the likely nominees. Let’s go?
BEST DRAMA SERIES
Favorites obviously include:
The Crown
Amid the strain of the family’s current drama, even Diana has kind of been left in the shadows. But the series concluded with the youth of the future king, William, which ended up being interesting due to current times. At the moment, The Crown even has a chance of winning, with no other – not even her – taking Succession‘s favoritism in the previous award.
The Morning Show
In the best and most surprising season of the Apple TV Plus series, everyone worked well and you can finally understand why it is among the likely finalists.

The Gilded Age
It’s a bit early, but I’m a big fan of the series that is our American Downton Abbey. The Gilded Age has found its groove in season two, but it’s not ready to “win” yet. Be nominated? Possibly.
Slow Horses
Another series that I have LOVED since it debuted, although there is already a division among fans whether the quality of storytelling and fidelity to the books is maintained. I hope you are among the finalists.

What would be 5th on the list?
Defining the 5th nominee is somewhat complex, each publication chooses its own. Some remind me of Loki, but although I loved the first two, the third was stretched. Ahsoka? I have doubts, as does Tokyo Vice.
When they mention Mr. and Mrs. Smith and The 3-Body Problem, I consider it more plausible, but it’s still early. However, I have a hunch of another Apple TV Plus hit.

Hijack
Hijack, Idris Elba‘s series was great, with an engaging narrative although so many questions were left open. As there is a second season coming, I place it among the likely finalists.
BEST COMEDY SERIES
The Bear
The comedy is having The Bear in this category because he is the clear favorite to win again.
Hacks
I know, I know, the third season hasn’t even started yet and Hacks would already be among the finalists? Warning: easily. Deserving it or not. There’s no way to say, but the premiere on May 2nd puts her not only among those who can be nominated but will also have freshness in her favor when the votes begin. Don’t discard!
Abbott Elementary
The favoritism phase is over, but she will certainly be among the nominees. I love it!
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The final season of Larry David‘s sitcom was great and even deserved to win for what it meant over the 24 years it was on the air, but the nomination would already be the prize.
Only Murders in the Building
The third season of one of my favorite and truly comical series is my favorite to win, you can’t beat tears (The Bear) with laughter, but you should!

And who would be the 5th nominee?
The popularity of The Gentlemen may guarantee the Netflix series among the favorites, but Loot and Palm Royale want to fight for the position. Will they choose the now finite Julia instead? Let’s follow.
BEST DRAMA LIMITED SERIES
Let’s talk about possibly the most disputed category of 2024? There are so many that there is no escape from injustice. Let’s go to my 3 favorites:
Shogun
The FX series, here in Brazil on Star Plus, is spectacular, but it has strong competition so it is not the favorite. There are MANY possibilities, but I hope and hope that it is among those recommended.
Ripley
The perfect adaptation of Patricia Highsmith‘s work has a lot of strength at the 2024 Emmys. Deservedly so!

Feud: Capote Vs Swans
It’s Ryan Murphy and a super-period reconstruction. Secured place!
The long list of “aspirants”:
A Murder at the End of the World
Fargo
True Detective: Night Country
A Lesson in Chemistry

Masters of the Air
Travel companions
The sympathizer
Lawmen: Bass Reeves

BEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
The “right” ones seem to be:
Dominic West (The Crown)
Gary Oldman (Slow Horses)
Idris Elba (Hijack)

For the two other vacancies, the following would be competing:

Donald Glover (Mr. and Mrs. Smith)
Walton Goggins (Fallout)
Morgan Spector (The Gilded Age)
Ansel Elgort (Tokyo Vice)
Colin Farrell (Sugar)
Paul Giamatti (Billions)
BEST ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES

For the other two vacancies, the competitors are incredible.
Rebecca Ferguson (Silo)
Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka)

Maya Erskine (Mr. and Mrs. Smith)
Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age)

In this category, my favorite, Billy Crudup has a chance and if he is the winner, he deserves it.
Billy Crudup (The Morning Show)

Benedict Wong (The 3-Body Problem)

For the last spot among supporting actors, Variety listed:
Mark Duplass (The Morning Show)

Liam Cunningham (The 3-Body Problem)
William Stanford Davis (Abbott Elementary)
Owen Wilson (Loki)
Jack Lowden (Slow Horses)
Ken Watanabe (Tokyo Vice)
Jon Hamm (The Morning Show)
Tim Robbins (Silo)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES
It will be difficult not to nominate Meryl Streep and even award her, so it is ironic to realize how prestigious the category is in 2024. I suppose these four are in the spotlight:
Meryl Streep (Only Murders in the Building)
Hannah Einbinder (Hacks)
Allison Janney (Palm Royale)
Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Loot)

And the list that is still fighting for the 5th spot:
Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary)
Janelle James (Abbott Elementary)
Abby Elliott (The Bear)
Liza Colon-Zayas (The Bear)
Molly Gordon (The Bear)
Carol Burnett (Palm Royale)
Laura Dern (Palm Royale)
Lisa Ann Walter (Abbott Elementary)
Judith Light (Julia)
Susie Essman (Curb Your Enthusiasm)
Kaya Scodelario (The Gentleman)
BEST ACTOR IN A LIMITED SERIES OR ANTHOLOGY OR TV MOVIE
I believe the five finalists are defined, but Andrew Scott is unlikely to miss out on this award.
Jon Hamm (Fargo)
Matt Bomer (fellow travelers)
Tom Hollander (Feud: Capote vs. the Swans)
Hiroyuki Sanada (Shogun)
Andrew Scott (Ripley)

Variety doesn’t rule out one of these changing the list, but I doubt it.
Cosmo Jarvis (Shogun)
David Oyelowo (Lawmen: Bass Reeves)
Michael Douglas (Franklin)
Tony Shalhoub (Mr. Monk’s Last Case)
Austin Butler (Masters of the Air)
Callum Turner (Masters of the Air)
BEST ACTRESS IN A LIMITED SERIES OR ANTHOLOGY OR TV MOVIE
Everything is designed for Anna Sawai to make history and win the Actress Emmy, following in the footsteps of Yoko Shimada who won the Emmy for the same role, 44 years later. It will be?

Anna Sawai (Shogun)
Brie Larson (Lessons in Chemistry)
Nicole Kidman (Expats)
Naomi Watts (Feud: Capote vs. the Swans)
Julianne Moore (Mary and George)

Juno Temple (Fargo)
Sofia Vergara (Griselda)
Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country)
Kate Winslet (The Regime)
Emma Corrin (Murder at the End of the World)

The likely are
Robert Downey Jr. (The Sympathizer)
Lewis Pullman (Chemistry Lessons)
Jonathan Bailey (fellow travelers)
Tadanobu Asano (Shogun)
Rufus Sewell (Scoop)

And of course, with great yet hopeful
Barry Keoghan (Airbenders)
Anthony Boyle (Masters of the Air)
Ron Cephas Jones (Genius: MLK/X)
Hugh Grant (The Regime)
Johnny Flynn (Ripley)
John Hawkes (True Detective: Night Country)
Treat Williams (Feud: Capote vs. the Swans)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A LIMITED SERIES, OR ANTHOLOGY OR TV MOVIE
Let’s go to the women’s category:
Jennifer Jason Leigh (Fargo)
Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country)

Dakota Fanning (Ripley)

And who could take 5th place?

Sandra Oh (The Sympathizer)
Lily Gladstone (Under the Bridge)
Riley Keough (Under the Bridge)
