I swear I had to revisit all of the first three episodes when, a few weeks ago, the “theory” leaked that John Sugar (Colin Farrell) was an alien in the Sugar series. There were signs of “secrets” heading towards a big turnaround, but I was betting on a Sixth Sense, never an E.T. And wasn’t it true? I never imagined that the noir series would be a new genre: sci-noir. That’s right, sci-fi in a noir narrative. Wow.

The plot presented itself as a major Hollywood producer hiring the best detective on the market, John Sugar, to locate his granddaughter, who had been missing for weeks, with no sign of life. The father, the brother, and – initially – the stepmother, don’t seem too worried, betting on a drug collapse, but, somehow, the sensitive Sugar “feels” that there is something more to the mystery (Don’t say, Sherlock !).
The noir conspiracy tones become even stronger when even Sugar’s boss doesn’t want him on the case, because of his past with her sister. We don’t know what happened to her, but it’s traumatic for him.
In the face of this, several strange figures parade, and we witness violent attacks, and deaths that, honestly, seem irrelevant to me. Were they already a little senseless, given the fact that it is an agency of aliens that “find” people? Please explain the ETs and forget about Olivia.
