We can start watching Peaky Blinders (again)

The series Peaky Blinders was on the air for almost 10 years, making Cillian Murphy an international idol well before all the Oscar hype for Oppenheimer. As fans anticipated, there would still be a film to tie together all the seasons, but time passed and there were no dates, cast, or any information other than Steven Knight‘s verbal guarantee that the project would continue. And even though he’s the renowned actor of the moment, Cillian didn’t disappoint us: Tommy Shelby will be back.

We enter June 2024 with the official news that Netflix has given the green light to begin work and we will have Cillian Murphy starring and producing the work and Tom Harper will be the director. With the conclusion of the series leaving several doors open for the sequel, speculation is also increasing about what will happen to the Shelbys.

Recordings are expected in the second half of the year, but apart from Cillian as Tommy, there are no confirmed names yet. plot and casting details are confidential. The only hint given years ago by the showrunner and screenwriter was that the film’s story would be set during World War II.

“I’m genuinely thrilled that this film is about to happen. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. There are no barriers. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war,” Knight told Deadline.

I’ve already speculated about my bet on the story being open, after all, Tommy did a good part of his reckoning, but some villains escaped. He was seen riding off into the sunset on a white steed after handing over the reins of the family business to his sister Ada (Sophie Rundle). Let’s follow along, of course!
