2025: the year that promises to keep us hooked on MAX

If it depends solely on MAX, and we know that we have all the other platforms, 2025 will be an incredible year for the series, something we are missing. The “blame” may lie on several fronts: life has effectively returned to pre-pandemic standards, but in Hollywood, the two strikes of 2023 (writers and actors) are still being felt, even though many have managed to reorganize themselves to cover the “gap”.

Series like House of the Dragon or Rings of Power (on Amazon Prime Video), filmed outside the United States and which were already in an advanced filming process when the stoppages began, were not affected, but many others are “delayed”. In other words, we feel the void.

The truth is that we can compare even and odd years, and 2025 promises to be a very tough year for Emmys and other awards. Let’s take a look at MAX’s promo updating us on its deliveries, which includes incredible images, but from series that are still almost a year away from their premiere.

Now let’s see what’s being promised for 2025:

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which should only premiere in June or July, following the new release date of House of the Dragon. In other words: we’ll have to wait almost a year.

And Just Like That. It’s a bit surprising to me that a “simple” series is filming for more than four months and will only air next year. In the past, they barely finished production and aired the series, when something changed behind the scenes. That said, I’m betting on a January release, which means another four months to finish.

The Gilded Age, seeing a glimpse of Larry and Marian happily spinning around in an idyllic setting fills us with hope for their romance, but my guess is that it will premiere in March or April. In other words, there’s still a long way to go.

The Last of Us will be the platform’s biggest drama series and, given what’s coming, it promises controversy and surprise for the unprepared. The good news is that it should be one of the highlights to open the year, premiering in January. To be confirmed!

The White Lotus is another big bet, but the fear is that it has generally been used as a highlight of the second half of the year, so my guess is that it will premiere in August. This could change, of course, if they delay the release of A Knight in the Seven Kingdoms, for example. It’s certainly one of my most anticipated series of next year.

The promo also highlights new series, but I mentioned the ones I know above. I don’t like getting older, but I wish 2025 would come soon!
