The filming of the third season of The Gilded Age is still going on, apparently, even if the two frames they shared – showing Marian and Larry happy and smiling – contributed to the anticipation. The probability of the premiere being in early 2025 is not official, and is even somewhat unlikely if previous years are followed…
Still, let’s look at what we know! After Peggy Scott’s core group gained new faces, today it was made official that on the Upper West Side, we will also have more news. The names of Bill Camp and Merritt Wever, Leslie Uggams, and Lisagay Hamilton were announced as part of the cast.
Camp will play banker JP Morgan and he will antagonize George Russell (Morgan Spector) about the future of the railroad industry. In fact, what he has the most is resistance to the modernity of that time, we have to agree!

The most revealing and interesting part is that we will meet Monica O’Brien, Bertha’s (Carrie Coon) estranged sister, who will be played by the always brilliant Merritt Wever. It will be very interesting to learn more about Bertha’s past, after all, she discarded every one to advance her social ascension project. Will she be a support or a problem? Why do I think she will have a headache? The sisterly dynamic in The Gilded Age has been only that of the Van Rijns, it will be interesting to see another family dealing with drama.
Leslie Uggams and Lisagay Hamilton will reinforce the nucleus that promises to have greater prominence this season, which is the black elite in Newport, and that will bring a new romantic interest to Peggy (Denée Benton). Uggams will be Mrs. Ernestine Brown, a friend of Elizabeth Kirkland and Hamilton will play Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, the famous black suffragette who inspires Peggy to get involved in her cause, despite the divergent opinions of those around her.

There’s more! Andrea Martin will play Madame Dashkova, a medium who claims to be able to communicate with the dead; Paul Alexander Nolan appears as Alfred Merrick, a wealthy and dashing New York businessman; Hattie Morahan is Lady Sarah Vere, sister of the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb); and Jessica Frances Dukes will play Athena Trumbo, a beloved cousin of Dorothy (Audra McDonald) and also part of Newport’s black elite.
The plot revealed so far is that the changes in command in New York society, with the fall of the old guard, come at a high and unexpected cost for everyone, including the new elite. And I want to know more about who comes back more than who comes in. What about you?
