There are two very complex mysteries to solve and I LOVE that. While Only Murders in the Building returned this week, Bad Monkey is already in its 4th episode and there is a lot that we have not been able to connect. In an important flashback, we follow how all the circumstances led to Nick Stripling (Rob Delaney) being presumed dead and losing an arm. And it is not exactly what it seems!
First, it is not like they are twins: Christopher and Nick are the same person. Something that Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn) and Rosa (Natalie Martinez) do not know yet. Of course, once in the past, we also see how Yancy made enemies and lost points in his career, ending up where we know him. In fact, since it is a step back, everything gains new context.

The bad luck for everyone involved began when Nick took his daughter, Caitlin (Charlotte Lawrence), to a party and met Eve (Meredith Hagner). Eve, who was an aspiring actress with no talent, quickly involved the vulnerable Nick, who had been scamming his best friend, Dr. Israel O’Peele (Zach Braff). Much more lively than anyone, Eve raises the stakes to such a level that Nick’s only alternative is to fake his own death and then start eliminating witnesses, effectively becoming a murderer.
Eve wants above all the luxurious life she feels she deserves (including the investment in the Bahamas).
At some point, Neville (Ronald Peet), the Dragon Queen (Jodie Turner-Smith), and Ya-ya (Scott L. Caldwell) cross the path of the con-artist couple, but we have yet to see how this will play out. Even poor Weather (Lauren Buglioli) from Mapa Tempo is a victim of the manipulation of the clearly sociopathic Eve.

Although they haven’t tied up this thread yet, we see how Bonnie (Michelle Monaghan) entered Yancy’s life, who, in the present, is moving forward with his romance with Rosa. His archenemy, police officer Mendez (Gonzalo Menendez), is on his tail and knows that Yancy was at O’Peele’s apartment when the doctor was murdered. For now, kind of by chance, Yancy looks at a three-legged deer that he saved and begins to suspect Nick/Christopher’s death. However, upon making this discovery, our loudmouth detective is attacked by Nick and falls unconscious.
With this “mystery” solved (the death and the coup of Nick and Meredith), we still have to understand how everyone will be on the same page. And with that, of course, enjoy a wonderful Vince Vaughn and a cruel and engaging Meredith Hagner as one of the most classic and terrifying villains.
