That’s a low blow, MAX! All fans know exactly what Future Days means in The Last of Us‘ plot, and using the song in the second season teaser could be considered trolling!

We begin with Catherine O’Hara asking Joel (Pedro Pascal) about his actions, clearly referring to his controversial decision to save Ellie (Bella Ramsey) instead of letting her be sacrificed for the research of saving humanity. Tearfully, he doesn’t answer, but we see him giving Ellie a guitar, to the sound of Future Days, of course, with her learning to play it.

Interspersed with images of what has been happening in Jackson, the safe haven of the infected and where some start their lives over but evil is always lurking, we only get more anxious. Even more so since we see Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever.

The platform’s summary says that after five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up with them, leading them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
