A short note to celebrate that in addition to the (already filmed) 5th season, Slow Horses will have another of Mick Herron‘s books confirmed: Joe Country, the book that continues London Rules, which will be shown in 2025.
While in London Rules the plot unfolds around a series of terrorist attacks in England, with Jackson Lamb and the Slough House nags once again solving another conspiracy, Joe Country revolves around the search for a missing teenager, which takes the team to Wales.

The question remains as to which book is in between the two – The Marylebone Drop – which was released the same year as London Rules, is included here. It expands the universe of the franchise by offering a shorter narrative about events and characters related to the series. Since it is not considered the sixth book, I am ruling out the possibility of a sixth season of Slow Horses.
Season 5 is titled “London Rules” because it refers to a set of unwritten rules that govern politics and espionage in London, suggesting that in times of crisis, norms can be bent or ignored. As the Slough House team investigates the domestic terrorists threatening the English capital, they face not only external threats but also internal betrayals and the complicated politics of Whitehall.

As with all Slow Horses stories, themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the consequences of past decisions are present. And for fans, it’s a treat to know that there’s more to come!
