After Truman Capote, Tom Hollander will be Hitchcock

The production of the series Monster: The Ed Gein Story has gained three new names in the cast, signaling the path of the series by Ryan Murphy. With actor Charlie Hunnam playing the serial killer who inspired the book (and the film) Psycho (among others!), it was kind of obvious that the classic thriller would be part of the plot. And yes! It will be.

Netflix announced this week that Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander, and Olivia Williams will be in the series, which already signals something interesting. According to Variety magazine, Laurie Metcalf will play Augusta Gein, the psychopath’s abusive mother and also his victim.

Tom Hollander and Olivia Williams will be Alfred and Alma Hitchcock, which reflects the importance of the classic being made and released just a few years after Ed Gein‘s arrest and were important in ‘iconizing’ him in the true crime imagination.

The confirmation that Hitchcock will be in the series represents Ryan Murphy‘s two passions combined: true crime and Hollywood, which will be incredible to watch. Even better is seeing that the showrunner has established a new favorite with Hollander, who shone in his series Feud focused on Truman Capote and who will now play the legendary English director. They have not yet announced who will play Anthony Perkins or Janet Leigh, but we will have them in the series as well.

Of all the actors, besides Hunnan in the title role, it is Tom Hollander who will have the spotlight for bringing to life a figure as famous as Hitch. Before him, Anthony Hopkins and Toby Jones were praised for having also brought to life the director. Will he surpass them both?
