There’s no escaping the pun in Sofia Falcone’s (Cristin Milioti) new name: she is, literally, Gigante. Cristin is so spectacular in the role that in the new poster for Penguin she already shares the series poster with the star, actor Colin Farrell. Deservedly so.

Unfortunately, we are extremely close to the end and the plot twists don’t stop, we will miss it so much! Chaos reigns in Gotham and we haven’t heard a word about Batman, which makes it interesting not to even remember him or miss him. Especially since all the bad guys only want one thing: revenge. And we support the unbalanced and cruel Sofia, of course. Betrayed by her father (Mark Strong), Oz (Colin Farrell), and her relatives, she is now alone. Exactly as she wants.
Gotham’s criminal underworld is in turmoil after the Riddler’s (Paul Dano) attack and Falcone’s (Strong) death, and Oz Cobb is playing against everyone to get ahead in the game to the point of being the boss. His connection with Sofia goes back a long way, and every time she thinks she can forgive him, she discovers more surprises, but now? There seems to be no way back from an alliance between the two.
You can’t blame Sofia for any of the atrocities she’s committed so far because The Penguin manipulates us into empathizing with her and even rooting for more evil. Sofia, like every woman in a patriarchal society, maybe the smartest and most prepared in the room, but she will always be overlooked because of her gender.

As we saw in the previous episode, already traumatized by finding her mother’s body when she was still very young, she becomes even more attached to her father, the kingpin of crime in Gotham.
But Sofia is betrayed by Oz, who reveals to Carmine that a journalist has been talking to the young woman and asking about a wave of crimes involving women being hanged and that they are all linked to her father, making Sofia suspect that her mother was also murdered.
Betrayed by both of them, she is accused of being The Hangman and is therefore interned for 10 years in Arkham, where she suffers endless mistreatment and abuse. With Carmine’s death, she is released but loses the only man who truly loved her, her brother, prompting Sofia to seek revenge. In the midst of all this, there is a rivalry between the Maronis and the Penguin, pitting one family against the other. Sofia is always underestimated by men, but by killing all the Falcones at once, she makes it clear that she is more than ready to assume power. She adopts her mother’s maiden name, which is ultra perfect, Gigante. First, Sofia saved Johnny Vitti to find out where her father kept his money. She discovers that her mother, Isabella, was going to leave Carmine the night he killed her. With that, she renames her family empire to Gigante, kills Johnny Viti when he once again interrupts her while she is speaking gives up her leadership, and uses the money to buy loyalty.
For fans, this consolidated leadership with the name is exciting because it is the name of the original DC comics, where the character’s full name is precise “Sofia Falcone Gigante”, even though in this case her second surname was her married name. Here they changed it to her mother’s birth name, which made the reference stronger.

The one who is still late in not giving Sofia the credit she deserves is Oz, who is still dealing with the Maronis. Since the mushrooms were confiscated by them, Penguin has to recover the drug and get rid of the “partners”. He is so busy that he sees that Sofia eliminated the Falcons, but he does not worry about her. At least not for now.
First, he kidnaps Taj Maroni and negotiates with Salvatore and Nadia for the young man’s release. He tries to get rid of Salvatore by hiring a guard to stab him in his cell. Outside, during the exchange with the Maronis, he is ambushed and so he sets Nadia and Taj on fire with gasoline (almost destroying the supply of mushrooms in the process). Yes, The Penguin is quite violent.
The problem is not solved. Almost all the mushrooms are destroyed and Salvatore not only escapes the attack: he also escapes from prison. Now both the Maronis and the Giants are after the Penguin and he wants more than ever to save his mother.

Victor helps him, who takes Frances to Crown Point to keep her safe. Frances does not miss any opportunity to humiliate her son and his assistant, a detestable and complex woman. Oz is desperate because Eve refuses to accompany him on his escape.
Grateful to Victor, he talks a little about his childhood and the loss of his brothers and takes the boy with him to Gotham’s old underground tram system where he will establish his new base of operations.
And we say goodbye as Sofia goes to meet a desolate Salvatore, proposing an alliance between the Maronis and the Giants to eliminate their common enemy: the Penguin.
