Menendez Brothers Sentence: Request for Review Confirmed

At the press conference that is taking place now in California, the decision was not unanimous, but the District Attorney’s Office announced that a review of the sentence will be recommended.

Officially, the two were granted parole, but since they behaved in an exemplary manner and spent more than three decades in prison, tomorrow, October 25, 2024, they are officially free.

The Court considers that the two have been rehabilitated so that they can return to live in society. “They paid their dues,” warned the Prosecutor.

At the press conference (still ongoing), he confirmed that the pressure after the documentaries shown on Netflix and MAX increased, contributing to the discussion and the decision to review the sentence. The recommendation is to remove the impossibility of parole from the sentence, which effectively gives the brothers freedom since they have been in prison for almost 35 years.

The final decision will be made by the judge tomorrow, and since there is no unanimity, on paper there is a possibility that the sentence will still be upheld, but it is clearly a slim chance. Precisely because the only thing that changes is the right to conditional release, which, looking at it today, can be applied here. Tomorrow we will certainly see Erick and Lyle on the streets of Los Angeles for the first time in more than three decades. It will be historic.
