In episode 2 of Dune: Prophecy we will have the first confrontation between Desmond Hart (Travis Fimmel) and Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson), as we saw in the series trailer. “Do you want to replace me?”, we hear Valya ask and hear the answer “I always wondered what your fear would be, now I know” from a confident and mysterious Desmond.
What is his game? What is the main ‘fear’ that drives him to kill nine-year-old children and women from a distance? He claims that it is Bebe Gesserit’s strategy to become indispensable and effectively rule the Universe. Is it “just that”?

The synopsis reads, “After receiving news of the events on Salusa Secundus, Valya (Watson) brings Theodosia (Jade Anouka) to the Imperial Household to help manage the situation.” Of course, now, thanks to Desmond, Emperor Javicco Corrino (Mark Strong) is without a truth sayer. This is unacceptable to the Bene Gesserit, but will the insecure Javicco finally pass his trust on to his wife, Natalya (Jodhi May), or will he place all his advice on Desmond (Fimmel)?
“Meanwhile, Desmond makes a confession to Emperor Corrino,” and what could it be? “You know Pruwet Richese’s (Charlie Hodson-Prior) barbecue? You’re welcome,” he might say. Really? Clearly, the political marriage wasn’t that advantageous for the Corricos since before Prewt grew up (he was only nine years old), his father was the one who was in charge. Ultimately, Desmond “resolved” the issue, but he may have started another war with it.

“Tula (Olivia Williams) reluctantly enlists Lila (Chloe Lea) for a vital mission.” The goal is still uncertain, I suspect Valya will want to investigate Desmond’s powers using Lila as a guinea pig. SPOILER ALERT: the actress is listed in only two episodes on IMDB so far, it seems to me that “vital” is the euphemism for a deadly and inefficient test. It was brief, but I hope Lila’s passage will be significant for the Bene Gesserit.
Finally, the synopsis says that “mistrust revolves around Keiran Atreides (Chris Mason), the swordmaster of House Corrino.” Of course! With Inez (Sarah-Sofie Boussnina) available again, who could celebrate more than him?
