The year 2024 was unique in many ways, but it always requires contextualization. After three consecutive shutdowns – a pandemic from 2020 to 2022; and two strikes in 2023 – productions were affected at a time when the market was also adjusting.
The fight between Cinema and TV gained new proportions with a new market where social life resumed, and the strength of simultaneous releases or preference for streaming lost strength, even though it is still a reality. In other words, Ridley Scott does not have to worry about Gladiator 2 going directly or quickly to platforms, making box office sales, and taking people to theaters.

The year ends precisely with the beginning of the awards season, so we will once again talk a lot about favorites, deserved, and ignored.
My list of the Worst and Best of 2024 may not be the same as everyone else’s, but here it goes!
