Golden Globes: Angelina Jolie’s Triumph and Irreverence

Today, those who don’t like Angelina Jolie (does that even exist?) like to complain about how often the foreign press nominates her for awards, but it’s a close and lasting relationship that confirms that if Americans “don’t get” Jolie, the world loves her.

When she was still “Jon Voight’s daughter” or the “crazy girl on duty”, at just 20-something, Angelina made a dramatic turnaround and won no less than three consecutive Golden Globes, culminating with her first Oscar.

In 1998, she won over critics with a visceral portrayal of Gia Carangi, an American supermodel who faced the heights and falls of her career due to drug addiction and HIV. Jolie’s performance was widely acclaimed for its emotional intensity and depth and brought out Gia’s vulnerability and complexity.

Jolie’s performance was considered a turning point in her career, helping to cement her position as an extraordinary actress. In fact, one of the most famous stories of the occasion was that dressed in her evening gown, Angelina celebrated her victory by jumping into the pool at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where the Golden Globes are being held. This was part of the promise/challenge that the actress made in case the series won. And, as a bonus, she pulled a journalist who was trying to interview her while she was still in the pool. Other times for Angelina!

In the 2000s, after winning GG and the Oscar for Girl, Interrupted, she started to act in action films, but in her personal life, she began to dedicate herself to humanitarian causes. As a result, there was a significant change in her looks and attitude, at parties and on the red carpet. This is the Angelina Goddess phase.

She was almost always accompanied: the first few years with her first husband, Johnny Lee Miller, then Billy Bob Thornton, and, of course, Brad Pitt. The last time, her son Pax accompanied her. Will she go alone tonight?

If she wasn’t competing with Fernanda Torres I would be rooting for her more!
