The news that Sophie Turner and Kit Harington would be sharing the screens again has awakened a social media monster that is disgusting in itself: the “Jonsas”. Yes, those who chipped the characters Jon Snow and Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones as romantic couples, despite being first cousins and having been raised as siblings. In a series where incest was irrelevant, it made sense, but for a “normal” person? EEEWWW
Yes, but the duo will now apparently be paired – we don’t know if romantic – in the (so appropriate!) horror film The Dreadful, whose filming has already finished and post-production is underway. We could still have a “Stark reunion” in theaters in 2025, although somewhat different…

The Dreadful is an original story created by Natasha Kermani. It’s set during the 15th-century Wars of the Roses, with a plot that blends gothic horror and historical drama. The narrative centers on Anne (Sophie Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden), whose secluded life on the fringes of society is disrupted when Jago (Kit Harington), a figure from the past, re-enters their lives, leading to events that challenge and transform Anne. The film seems to lean into themes of isolation, the haunting impact of the past, and possibly supernatural elements.
Kermani has been working on the project since 2018, casting Sophie in 2024, before Kit. “They were trying to find someone for this role [of Jago], and I was like, ‘You can’t do without Kit,’” Sophie said in a recent interview. “It’s set during the Wars of the Roses, so we’ll probably be floating in robes off the cliffs again,” she teased, alluding to the fact that both have deep experience with the subject matter.

Filming took place in Cornwall, which has many beautiful cliffs perfect for a gothic story, a region of picturesque villages, sandy beaches, and countryside, a unique mix of natural beauty and simplicity that is a favorite location for many films and series.
The Dreadful producer Zygi Kamasa said the film is “pure horror from start to finish”, as well as “super scary and very spooky” and yes, “it has ghosts”. For Jon and Sansa, sorry Jago and Anne, this is familiar territory as in Game of Thrones they have faced much worse! The good news is that the new film is due for release by the end of 2025. Great news for fans, whether they are part of the Jonsa movement or not!
