It was already a given, but now it’s official: on May 3, Lady Gaga will perform a free concert on the sands of Copacabana that promises to be a highlight in 2025.
The show is something to celebrate because it marks her return to Brazil after over a decade, since her last visit in 2012. The artist celebrated performing for Brazilian fans, especially after canceling her participation in Rock in Rio in 2017 due to health issues.
This event is part of the Celebration May initiative, promoted by the City of Rio de Janeiro, which aims to bring big names in international music for free annual performances in the city. In 2024, Madonna inaugurated the project with a show that attracted approximately 1.6 million people to Copacabana Beach, generating a significant economic impact for the city.
Lady Gaga’s concert is expected to repeat or even surpass this success, attracting a large crowd of fans and tourists. Events of this magnitude have demonstrated a substantial positive economic impact on Rio de Janeiro. For example, Madonna’s concert in 2024 generated approximately R$293.4 million in the local economy, with public investments being far exceeded by the financial return generated.
In addition to the economic boost, holding free international concerts reinforces Rio de Janeiro’s image as a prominent global cultural destination, promoting the city and stimulating tourism. For locals and visitors, Lady Gaga’s concert promises to be a memorable experience, with a grand production and a repertoire full of hits that marked her career.
By then, we will have already heard her seventh studio album, titled Mayhem, scheduled for release on March 7, 2025. This project marks a return to her pop roots, exploring themes of chaos and transformation. Gaga described the creative process as “reassembling a broken mirror”, indicating a fusion between classic elements of her career and new sound experiments.
Some singles are already playing and the album will have 14 tracks. Among the hits is her collaboration with Bruno Mars in Die With a Smile, which was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2025.

To promote the album, Gaga released the third single, Abracadabra, on February 2, 2025. The music video premiered during a commercial break at the Grammy Awards ceremony, surprising fans and critics, especially because it has vibrant choreography and an aesthetic that refers to the “The Fame Monster” era, with a predominance of red, white, and black colors.
With Mayhem, Lady Gaga promises to deliver to fans an intense and innovative musical experience, reaffirming her position as one of the most versatile and influential artists in contemporary pop music. We are ready!
