With so few episodes in the season of The White Lotus, it is even more exciting to have an entire one that—apparently—has not advanced the story. However, we look for clues that are certainly strong in every scene. The story is woven in two ways: plot, subplot, and background plot (which is a subplot, but I’m highlighting the story of Greg/Gary (Jon Gries) here).
Shall we try?

The victim (or victims?)
In the second season, we saw a single body floating on the beach (Tanya’s (Jenniffer Coolidge)). Still, she left a trail of death before accidentally falling into the water and dying. Now, we hear a lot of gunfire at the hotel, the immediate concern of Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), Belinda’s (Nathalia Rothwell) son, for his mother specifically, which signals to us that there was something he already imagined she was at risk of.
We know it has to do with Greg/Gary, so this potentializes that she is at some risk. But, as we can all point out: Zion sees the body and runs away from it, terrified. This practically eliminates the possibility that Belinda is floating in the lake, but not that she is safe. There were a lot of shots for a single victim of at least one injury. Going back in time again, in season two, Daphne Sullivan (Meghann Fahy) had the same reaction as Zion and I wrongly bet that her husband, Cameron (Theo James), would die and the fact that she walked away from the body should have been the biggest clue.

If it’s not Belinda, there are still potentially many possible ones. The Internet is betting a lot on Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), Rick Hatchett’s (Walton Goggins) good girlfriend, because she’s at the heart of everything that’s going on and has talked – more than once – about death or “nearly dying”. Because I like her, I don’t want to consider that possibility. More than Victoria Ratliff (Parker Posey), it’s Chelsea who kind of replaces Tanya’s absence. But she’s definitely a candidate.
I’m going to throw out my suspicions and it’s someone who hasn’t appeared physically yet, but we’ve already heard his voice: Kenny Nguyen (Ke Huy Quan), Tim Ratliff’s (Jason Isaacs) partner who put the millionaire in a life-or-death situation. Kenny said he was going to take his own life, but while he’s on the run from the FBI he might meet Tim and make things worse. After all, people on the edge are capable of anything!
I’d really like the body to be Greg/Gary, but it doesn’t seem like that’s the case yet. I also suspect it’s Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) because he’s been manipulated by Mook (Lalisa Manobal) and he already made a mistake by letting armed robbers into the White Lotus. He could try to be a hero and pay the bill, you know? Those bandits aren’t out of the picture yet.

So, let’s go with my three possible dead bodies: Kenny, Gaitok, or Greg. I’ll stick with them for now.
Rick: a cloudy past and an antenna on?
There’s something very wrong in the universe around Greg/Gary and there’s something about Chelsea and Rick that interests him. I said that Chloe’s (Charlotte Le Bon) approach was very strange and although Rick picked up on the wrong vibes, Chelsea didn’t.
Before, I still don’t know what Rick does for a living – even though it’s heavily implied that he’s there to “kill” Jim Hollinger (Scott Glenn), Amrita’s (Lek Patravadi) American husband – but his anti-stress therapy session confirms another suspicion. Rick, lost in life, is Jim’s son and wants some kind of revenge. He says his mother overdosed when he was ten and that his father was murdered before he was born. He says he’s “nothing”, an empty soul, but even if Jim isn’t his father, it clearly has something to do with his mother’s death. Jim suffered a stroke and is recovering in Bangkok. Sorry, having Scott Glenn only appear in one photo? I suspect Jim will still show up.

And an empty soul is not a distracted mind. Rick, rude and irritated, agrees to do what Chelsea plans and goes to dinner with Greg and Chloe, mapping the two immediately. Rick questions the evasive Greg/Gary about what he does and his silence answers more than any words. Unfortunately, it doesn’t save Chelsea from falling for Chloe’s scam the next day, the robbery that “coincidentally” happened to the two of them in the hotel store. Going into the place just to take a souvenir? What’s in the snake bracelet, the exact bracelet that Chelsea wanted to take to Rick? This thread doesn’t end here…
Finally, the fake friends who barely wait for one of them to leave the room to gossip are also “making waves”. Who doesn’t like poison? But none of them seem to be able to kill or die…
Theories
My favorite is that Greg/Gary is setting up something bigger in Thailand, but that Belinda will create problems for him. We know this because of the promos. He also realizes that Rick, who has a personal plan for revenge, could get in the way of the coup, and – in desperation – he will try to kill them both.
The other is that while the drama unfolds between the guests, Gaitok will confronts Mook and the scheme of robbing the guests, but will end up in the crossfire…
Let’s follow!
