Filming for the third season of House of the Dragon will begin at the end of March 2025 and fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of who will play four major characters who have not yet appeared on MAX screens. They are: Ormund Hightower, Daeron Targaryen, Dalton Greyjoy and Robert Quince.

One of the mysteries was solved at the beginning of the year when the entrance of the prestigious actor James Norton as Ormund Hightower was confirmed. Today, the actor Lucas Aurelio, who has participated in hits such as Witcher and Bridgerton, was announced as another name for the season, “in a prominent role”, but which one? No one has confirmed it yet.
Another actor who fans claim has been cast, but has never been officially announced, is Harry Gilby (another member of The Last Kingdom cast), who would be Daeron (perfect for his age). He, like his co-star Ewan Mitchell, would have tested to play Aemond, so it makes sense that he would get the role of the younger brother.

The Internet is on fire with the bets, whether he will be Daeron or Dalton Greyjoy, but I suspect that due to his age he will be a Greyjoy. Let’s speculate?
First, who are they?
We’ve already talked about Ormund and Daeron and their roles in the Dance of the Dragons. Both are super important and connected to the Greens (duh!). It remains to be seen how important Roderick Dustin, Dalton Greyjoy, and Robert Quince are.
Roderick Dustin should be one of the first “new” faces to appear in season 3 because we ended season 2 with the armies of all the Houses heading towards the clash. He, as a member of one of the minor noble houses of the North, is on Rhaenyra’s side. In the absence of Cregan Stark, it will be Ser Roderick who steps in as the main representative of the Winter Wolves.
Remember them? They are the 2,000 old warriors that Cregan could immediately send to war. Roderick is known as skilled and violent in battle, and his experience brings the necessary cynicism to the conflict.
SPOILER alert: Ser Criston Cole dies facing Ser Roderick’s men, and he will be killed by Ormund and Bryndon Hightower, but what about that? Even when mortally wounded, he kills them first. In other words, a character who will be one of the favorites of the series.

The entrance of Lucas Aurelio probably as Dalton Greyjoy will put the (hateful) men of the Iron Island, ancestors of Theon and Euron Greyjoy, in the spotlight.
The Greyjoys will be “courted” by the blacks and greens, and Lord Dalton will take advantage of that, of course. For Aegon II’s supporters, the Greyjoy fleet would be crucial to confront the Velaryons, who are blockading King’s Landing. But Dalton, who is known as the Red Kraken, eventually feels more attracted to Daemon’s proposal: kill all of Rhaenyra’s enemies. He, ruthless and bloodthirsty, likes to have the freedom to be cruel.
He survives the war but will die a violent death. We will go into more detail another time. For now, we only have to talk about Robert Quince, who was already mentioned in the series when Rhaenyra Targaryen chose him as the Castellan of Dragonsone, angering Ser Alfred Broome. For those who forgot, Broome is the knight who serves as a high-ranking officer of the Targaryens, and who, offended by the choice, has already signaled that he will betray the queen of the blacks, choosing Daemon as king and leaving in anger when he bowed to his wife/niece. Meanwhile, Robert Quince will be introduced as someone loyal to Rhaenyra until the end. Unfortunately, Broome will have his violent revenge against his rival…
We will continue to follow all the news! More should appear from now on.
