Netflix has begun filming its fresh take on Pride and Prejudice, and first images show Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden embodying the timeless roles of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. The scenes were shot in the Peak District, Derbyshire, with the actors braving strong winds in full Regency attire that instantly evokes Jane Austen’s world.
Lowden, dressed in a long grey coat with a characteristically proud expression, already channels Darcy’s air of superiority, while Corrin, in a flowing silk gown and floral jacket, appears in a heated exchange with her co-star. The six-part limited series is set to premiere in early 2026, also featuring Olivia Colman as the anxious Mrs. Bennet and Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet.

The cast includes Freya Mavor (Jane), Daryl McCormack (Bingley), Louis Partridge (Wickham), and Fiona Shaw (Lady Catherine de Bourg), alongside newcomers Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery as Mary and Kitty Bennet. Directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper) and written by Dolly Alderton, the series promises to revisit the 1813 novel with both faithfulness and a contemporary edge.
Still, not all reactions have been positive. The casting announcement drew backlash online, and fans are already lamenting the confirmed absence of the legendary “lake scene” — immortalized by Colin Firth in the 1995 BBC adaptation — reportedly omitted to avoid the “objectification of men.”
Between high expectations and growing controversy, filming continues in the UK until late 2025. The real question is whether this new Darcy and Elizabeth will manage to win the same enduring affection as the beloved adaptations that came before.
