After Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, The White Lotus is heading to France. Sources have confirmed that Mike White and HBO have chosen the country as the setting for the fourth season of the anthology that blends social satire, dark humor, and—inevitably—a murder.
Speculation is strongest around the iconic Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera, a location that combines glamour, proximity to Cannes, and a long history with Hollywood. Still, nothing is set in stone. As in previous seasons, the show may shift between different luxury hotels, including those from the Four Seasons chain, which has a production partnership with HBO.

An interesting detail is that Mike White once said he wanted to move away from the “beach and waves” formula, though without losing room for new deaths—after all, The White Lotus lives off the tension between idyllic paradises and the moral misery of its guests. Paris and Megève are also in the mix: the first as a picturesque, urban, and romantic backdrop, the second as a radical change of scenery in the snowy French Alps. But there’s a catch: the cast has already revealed that White hates the cold.
What seems certain, for now, is that The White Lotus is staying on its European path, as speculated back in February, when HBO delayed its location-scouting trip. Season 3 was a milestone, with 23 Emmy nominations, and anticipation for the next chapter only grows. Wherever the story lands, one thing is guaranteed: luxury, irony, and blood will not be missing.
