With five seasons already out, it’s easy to recognize a few Only Murders in the Building formulas — even if, with every new chapter, the number of guest stars and special appearances keeps multiplying. The pattern remains: there’s always a victim, the victim’s story, a list of suspects, and the process of slowly dismantling each one until the true culprit emerges in the final act.
And of course, our podcasting trio always gets emotionally involved: Mabel, Oliver, and Charles can never keep the case from spilling into their personal lives — and Charles, notably, is the only one who’s been fooled by the real killer more than once.
This season is no exception.

The Mystery: Who Killed Lester Colucca?
The new case shaking the Arconia is the death of beloved doorman Lester Colucca, a longtime figure whose story has been tied to the building for decades.
The first clues appeared back in Season 4, even before we left Hollywood and solved the murder of Sazz Pataki. At that point, local papers were already reporting the disappearance of Nicky Caccimelio, a mobster who owned a laundromat.
In the finale, his widow, Sofia, came to the trio asking for help — and they ignored her. Now, the new season opens with Lester dead, revealing the first link between him and Nicky (also murdered), and uncovering a clandestine casino hidden inside the Arconia.
For now, the Italian mafia is off the table. Suspicion falls instead on two widows — Sofia and Lorraine, friends in grief but shady in their actions — and a trio of billionaires who frequented the casino: Bash Steed, Jay Pflug, and Camilla White.
Before the list of suspects gets revised (and it will), it’s time to look at their motives — especially since the billionaires conveniently bought the podcast platform, ensuring that any investigation about them would be silenced. Which, of course, only makes them more suspicious.

Enter Bash Steed
At the end of Episode 6, our podcasters discover that tech magnate Bash Steed controls the Arconia’s entire security system — his company owns it. Worse: he’s been catfishing Charles on a dating app, secretly gathering information about their investigation.
With that revelation, Mabel, Oliver, and Charles decide to confront him in person — at Bash’s estate, outside Manhattan.
The episode opens with Oliver running for his life and screaming for help — before rewinding to show how he got there.
The Mayor, the Coffee, and the Confession
Back at the Arconia, the trio tries to find a way to keep their podcast alive without mentioning the main suspects. They accept an invitation to interview Mayor Beau Tillman, which Oliver thinks is a brilliant first step before landing Meghan Markle. (Oliver’s logic continues to defy logic.)
Tillman arrives with his assistant Romy, and the conversation drifts toward New York City security — until, half-jokingly, he suggests his political rival might be the killer. Mabel interrupts him, explaining they’re legally barred from talking about the three billionaires. It’s enough for Tillman — once alone with the trio — to state with absolute certainty: “Bash Steed is the killer.”
Romy, who happens to be Bash’s niece, is part of the blackmail scheme that forces the mayor to obey the billionaire’s orders. He also shares that Bash, Camilla White, and Jay Pflug are meeting at his country house that weekend — and gives them the address.
When Romy returns, the conversation abruptly ends.
Destiny, however, is already set.

Into the Billionaires’ Den
Despite his protests, Oliver follows Mabel and Charles to Bash’s remote house — an isolated area with no internet and no easy escape. They first encounter Bash’s eerie son, straight out of a horror movie, and the entire place feels unsettling.
Soon, they find the three billionaires together, “playing” board games to feed their shared addiction to winning. Each podcaster pairs off for their own side conversation:
- Oliver and Camilla discuss real estate until she deftly flips the conversation, preventing him from asking anything useful.
- Charles and Bash share a more philosophical chat. When accused of murder, Bash insists that his obsession with longevity proves how much he “hates death,” and thus could never be a killer.
- Mabel and Jay connect on a deeper level. Jay claims they may look suspicious but are merely “addicted to victory.”

The Game for All the Marbles
Mabel challenges them: if the podcasters win a board game, the billionaires will tell the truth. If they lose, the podcast ends.
Oliver refuses to play and storms off, but Mabel and Charles stay. The rounds are tense, but they hold their own — and win.
Their victory forces a confession: the billionaires are planning to build New York’s first legal casino, using the Arconia as their cover for secret meetings.
Everything seems settled — until Mabel discovers that the mysterious finger, a crucial piece of evidence, was hidden inside a plastic trophy.
Escape, Finger, and Silver Alert
Meanwhile, Oliver — lost in the woods — issues a Silver Alert (for missing seniors) and begs passing neighbors for help. Mabel and Charles try to flee with the finger, but Jay warns them that it’s far more dangerous than they realize to keep it.
With no cell service, they can’t call for help. Just when things seem hopeless, Oliver reappears, driving a garbage tractor and rescues the team in classic chaotic fashion.

Back at the Arconia, Camilla shows up at Charles’s apartment, armed and demanding the finger. She reveals that she’s been buying up all the Arconia apartments — including Oliver’s — to turn the building into her dream project: The Casino of Dreams.
The trio is left in shock as Camilla walks out, now the leading suspect.
But with two episodes left, it’s hard to believe the real killer has truly been unmasked.
