It took a while, and even though Camilla White hasn’t been ruled out as a suspect, Randall climbed to the top of the list this week. After all, in the bird-watching app video, he’s seen taking the murder weapon and hiding it. And in Only Murders in the Building, that’s how it goes: someone steps into the spotlight — and then gets “discarded.” This time, both doormen (human and not) share that fate.
In a quick flashback, we see that Lester once met LESTR — the narrator of this episode. He was suspicious and afraid of being replaced by technology. Lester argued that the Arconia board might have purchased the robot, but he wasn’t required to use it. Lestr, the machine, resented the distrust: after all, he’s efficient — and human problems are of their own making. Left gathering dust in the basement, he witnessed key moments. And yes, he saw Randall with the murder weapon.
Meanwhile, the podcasters — furious after the video revelation — confront the doorman, who runs away (and once again, they ignore that Lestr records everything).

Days later, with Lestr counting down the hours until the new management takes over, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver discuss the missing doorman and what to do now that they’re homeless.
Mabel considers traveling with Jay to the Maldives (without revealing his name to Charles and Oliver), while Oliver plans a trip to New Zealand to reunite with Loretta. In the meantime, Randall posts online as if he were in Cuba — and with that, the podcasters “give up”: they’ve lost the Arconia and the possible killer of Lester.
While passing through the lobby, Mabel runs into Teddy Dimas and other residents, saying goodbye to the Arconia over drinks. Even Detective Williams shows up for the big farewell.
Chatting with Mabel, the detective realizes that the podcaster wants to make sure the billionaire is really a “good guy” — that’s why she’s considering going with him. But as the two share a drink in the game room, they spot a flip-flop footprint near the casino — which leads them to a secret passage. “Screw the yacht,” says Mabel. The investigation is back on.

The hidden passage connects the Arconia to Nicky’s laundromat. There, Mabel discovers that Randall’s post wasn’t made in Cuba — but inside the building itself. Randall tries to flee again, but is caught. He insists he didn’t kill his mentor.
It’s Lestr who finally validates Randall’s story, revealing all the recordings he made while being ignored. According to his data, Lester attacked Nicky “to save the Arconia” — meaning he killed the mobster — and Randall hid the weapon to protect his friend. But then… who killed Lester?
At Oliver’s farewell dinner, all the neighbors — who barely acknowledged each other before — reconnect and try to piece together the mystery of the fifth murder in the building. Jay shows up unexpectedly to pick up Mabel, but she decides not to go with him.
As they trade theories, the Arconia residents uncover a new clue: the person who stole the finger from Charles’s apartment was none other than Nicky’s mother — yes, the nonna. But why? For what reason? We’ll find out next week.

And so, the suspect list reshuffles once again. Camilla still has the strongest motive to want both Nicky and Lester dead — but she feels a little too obvious. Sofia climbs back to the top, too: she had a lover, was unhappy, and the underground casino was part of her family’s legacy. Yet she’s the one who asked the podcasters to investigate — which makes her motives feel conflicted.
Mayor Tillman remains the main suspect by elimination, but the math still doesn’t add up. Knowing there’s another season ahead, the “losing the Arconia” threat seems contained. Camilla’s downfall feels imminent — but the game is far from over.
And what if Tillman was Sofia’s lover all along? As mayor, he’s pushing to open New York’s first casino, and his eagerness to join the podcast could be part of the plan. Perhaps Sofia has drawn Mabel, Charles, and Oliver into something much bigger than they realize.
Just one episode left. And it’s getting harder — and harder — to pin down the killer.
