What does the synopsis of the final episode of Only Murders in the Building reveal?

We’ve reached the moment of truth in Only Murders in the Building, and this time the mystery is more tangled than ever. The story revolves around Lester, the doorman, whose death hides more layers than anyone expected. All signs point to him having killed Nicky before being murdered himself.

The main suspects? Mayor Tillman and Nicky’s widow, Sofia. But Nicky’s mother, the formidable Nonna, might be the missing key: why is she so determined to help her nephews recover the mysterious finger?

The official synopsis for the finale teases:

“With the clock ticking, the trio doubles down to bring ‘new’ and ‘old’ forces together to bring down a killer — ending in one explosive showdown and the reveals they’ve been chasing all season.”

That line suggests Charles, Oliver, and Mabel will pit the billionaire trio against the mafia family to finally uncover what really happened inside the Arconia. But even with time running out, solving this puzzle won’t be easy.

Unanswered Questions:

  • Whose finger is it — and why is it tied to the New York casino license?
  • What was causing that persistent noise in the elevator?
  • Why did Lester still have the old elevator key — and how does he “save” the Arconia?
  • Who is Sofia’s secret lover?
  • What’s Romy’s connection to all this?
  • And, of course: who killed Nicky — and why? And who killed Lester — and why?

Who’s Going to Die Next at the Arconia?

That’s the question haunting the hallways — and, like every Only Murders finale, the answer might be more ironic than tragic. The synopsis promises “an explosive showdown,” hinting that not everyone will survive.

Even if Camilla White “resells” her apartments and life returns to “normal,” the Arconia remains Manhattan’s deadliest address. With season six all but confirmed, the next game is guessing the next victim — or victims.

Online, the top names on the “farewell list” are the Dimas family. Teddy and Theo, the main suspects from season one, returned just in time for the Arconia’s “farewell.” Will they make it out alive? With a growing fanbase rooting for Mabel and Theo (yes, really), the leading theory is that Teddy will be the next to die, which would make emotional sense.

Vince and Uma, meanwhile, barely interacted — but a possible romance was hinted at. And we all know what Only Murders does to unexpected couples: tragedy follows.

But my personal bet? Camilla White. For the residents to stay, she’d have to abandon her women-only casino dream and give up her empire. Unlikely. Much more probable that she’ll die in the very building she bought — with our podcasters, once again, as the prime suspects.

Some fans believe one of the Big Three might someday become the podcast’s subject. But in a comedy, it’s hard to imagine anyone laughing at that.

The fact is, the Arconia has been sold, and a sixth season hasn’t been confirmed. If this is indeed the final mystery — Lester and Nicky’s story — we might be looking at the end of Only Murders in the Building.

Or are we?

One thing’s for sure: no one is ever truly safe at the Arconia. And that’s exactly what keeps the podcast — and the audience — alive.
