I Love LA – S.1, Episode 7 (Recap): Divas Down

Divas Down is the seventh episode of a series I am, admittedly, years removed from the target audience of — but let’s get to the recap.

Maya, as we already know, is drifting away from Dylan. The reason? The persistent reappearance of her former boss (and lover?) reopens unresolved territory, and she is dangerously tempted to revisit whatever they once had. Determined to “win,” she rehearses mantras in front of the mirror — including the inspiring “talk until your idols become your rivals.”

The note Ben leaves, “hidden” in the bathroom — where he calls her “hurricane” — is a request to meet Dylan. Meanwhile, the couple’s daily life continues as “normal,” meaning Tallulah’s things are scattered along the way. The contrasts between Maya and Dylan become increasingly evident, even in trivial matters: she judges people who live near the beach; he, of course, disagrees. And what about the dinner plans with his parents? Still on? Maya’s flat “yah” says it all.

Her anxiety spikes because Antoine is coming — and he could represent the turning point Maya has been waiting for. Things already go sideways when she and Alyssa show up wearing the same blouse, something Antoine immediately jokes about. He wants to know more about Tallulah — “the bag thief,” as he calls her — and they manage to set up a meeting. The problem, as always, is getting the influencer to answer the phone… and actually show up.

Meanwhile, Charlie is undergoing a hair transplant and asks for absolute discretion. Alani, naturally, ignores the request and is desperate to show him the latest viral moment: Mimi Rush falling on stage mid-performance. They laugh — until reality catches up.

Talent management is complicated. Tallulah is unimpressed by Antoine, says she’s tired, and insists they need to rethink their next steps: the Ritz campaign was a disaster. Maya is stunned, but even more so when she realizes how much influence Tessa has over her girlfriend. The tension escalates when Tallulah, wielding a knife while opening boxes and venting her anger, slips, drops it, and badly cuts her own foot.

Chaos ensues. They rush to the hospital, and Maya can only think about her meeting with Antoine, to the point of choosing the closest hospital for convenience. To make matters worse, there’s been a bus accident, and the victims are given priority. The wait will be long.

Charlie heads to the atelier to pick up clothes for Maya and runs into Mimi — now with a broken foot — who’s there to collect one of his pieces. Unsure how to apologize, she circles around the issue, blames the dress that already got her fired, plays the drama… and wants Charlie back. He says he’ll consider it — but clearly accepts.

At the hospital, Maya and Tallulah try to jump the line. They fail. Tallulah tries to convince her friend-manager to read the signs: maybe it’s time to slow down; maybe missing one meeting isn’t the end of the world. Maya insists this is the meeting that will make them millionaires. After resisting for a while, she agrees to apologize for the Ritz campaign — but lies to cut the line. Just when everything seems to be aligning, the final blow hits: Antoine cancels. He has to return to Paris.

Maya wants to leave immediately. The doctor warns her: leaving now will almost certainly lead to infection. For Maya, Antoine still matters more.

At the site of the supposedly canceled meeting, the surprise: Alyssa is there with Antoine. Yes — she lied to Maya because she wants to push another influencer. A silent war begins. Technically, it’s a win: Antoine is charmed by both of them. Once alone, Alyssa confronts Maya — she crossed a line and caused a problem. Maya doesn’t back down and ends up fired. Before leaving, she hears some hard truths: she’s impatient, ungrateful, and so consumed by ambition that she can’t see what she already has.

And bingo.

Maya arrives late to dinner with Dylan’s parents — a dinner she had completely forgotten. The conversation shifts when Dylan learns everything that happened: the cut, the hospital, the chaos… and the fact that she never stopped for a second to tell him. Classic Maya: she doesn’t listen, doesn’t process, doesn’t pause. Instead, she celebrates the invitation to dine at Antoine’s restaurant.

That’s the final straw. Dylan says he can’t do this anymore. He confronts everything he’s been living through and how she doesn’t care about him, not even in the smallest ways. Maya begs, but he asks for time.

And here’s the worst part: Maya is about to go to New York with Tallulah.

Does anyone doubt something will happen with Ben? Exactly.
And, of course, it will somehow be Dylan’s fault.
