All Her Fault – Episode 7 Recap: When motherhood changes sides

Six years before all the current drama, we meet Josie and Kyle: young, in love, full of plans — and already crushed by financial hardship. Expecting their first child, Kyle decides to “fix” their problems by dealing drugs. The outcome is predictable: he is arrested.

Alone, pregnant, and without support, Josie is forced to move back in with her abusive mother, Irene, and her father, Rob, a criminal involved in debt collection and gambling schemes. At some point, Josie believes she has lost her baby. With Kyle gone and no prospects, she begins accompanying her father on collections. That is how she crosses paths with Milo, when Rob goes to collect a gambling debt from Colin.

When Josie discovers that she and Milo share synesthesia, something breaks open inside her. The connection is immediate, visceral, almost mystical. She becomes obsessed with the boy. After a fight with her mother, she leaves home and assumes a new identity: Carrie Finch. Under that name, she goes to work for Jenny, befriending Ana and gradually getting closer to Milo. Everything we have seen so far rearranges itself from a completely different perspective.

Josie seeks out Kyle shortly before his release from prison and tells him about her plan. He resists at first, but eventually gives in. As the investigation begins to close in, she asks her father for help. Rob sees an opportunity to make money. He and Kyle clash. Rob convinces Josie to take Milo to a hotel while he and Kyle “clean up” the lake house. As soon as Josie leaves, Rob kills Kyle.

Milo, already missing Marissa, stays at the hotel with Rob while Josie goes out to buy a birthday cake. They play hide-and-seek. Rob tells Milo to stay quiet while he receives a visit from a “friend.”

When Josie returns to the hotel, she finds her father dead, shot, and Milo gone. She then discovers that Rob recorded the conversation with the person who killed him. The truth is preserved. Josie takes the gun and heads to the Irvines’ house.

On the way, memories surface. Josie recalls giving birth alone in the hospital, leaving with her baby in her arms — and the car accident shortly afterward. When she woke up, she was told the child had died. But she is certain he hadn’t. Something was always wrong. The conclusion is devastating: her baby was switched with the Irvines’ newborn. Milo is her son. Kyle always believed it, too — the boy looked exactly like him.

Armed, facing everyone, Josie finally says out loud what has driven her from the beginning: she is not crazy. Milo is her child.

The question that remains is no longer just who kidnapped the boy.
But who, in that room, killed Rob — and reclaimed the child.

I know the answer.
