The bridal reference: Diana’s wedding dress

Surely Grace Kelly‘s wedding dress is like the top 3 reference to most brides, and princess Diana‘s is there too. For a while considered for some as a bit over the top, it was, nevertheess, the iconic princess gown. Diana was breathlessly beautiful in it. Unforgettable.

The wedding that took place 40 years ago, in July of 1981, will be part of an exposition at the Kensington Palace and it was one of the rare agreements that unite both prince William and prince Harry, who authorized for the first time in 25 years for its temporary exhibition.

The dress was a top secret before the big date and signed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, not as famous then. The sequin-encrusted train that still holds the royal record of 7.6m long, will be shown with its full detail as never before.

Made in ivory silk taffeta, include 10,000 pearls, it was handmade to match Diana’s choices, including the bows and puff sleeves so in vogue in the 1980s. It’s a beautiful dress.

Lucky londoners will be able to check it out. The exposition Royal Style In The Making opens in June 3, two days after Diana’s statue is inaugurated. For those who are far, here are some of the details of the beautiful dress.
