11 days ago, on October 16, 2023, Disney turned 100 years old. On its platform are the classics that enchanted generations, including the studio’s first animated feature: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The 1937 cartoon is one of the most beloved of all time and is about to get its official live-action version, surrounded by controversy, of course. The official photo of Rachel Zegler as the princess (we’re still waiting for Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen) is shaking up social media today.

But do you know what the best news is? A restored version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be restored on the platform!

The studio calls the film the project “that started it all”, it was restored in 4K, quite a feat in time for the celebrations, and included in the restoration of Cinderella. “The opportunity to help restore Snow White was both an honor and a challenge,” said Eric Goldberg, “We felt we owed a debt to history to make it as beautiful and as true to the original colors as possible. The soft palette and delicate watercolor backgrounds evoke the illustrated fairy tales Walt loved so much, and the story and characters continue to resonate today. I hope our work inspires future generations of animation artists to fully appreciate the masterful talent and care that went into this landmark film.”

Considered one of the greatest triumphs in the history of animation for being the first full-length animated film in the history of cinema, Snow White won an honorary Oscar at the time of its release. We were the ones who won the gift!
