The first two seasons of Hacks saw the inverse trajectory of 70-year-old comedian Debra Vance and her 20-something screenwriter Ava, with opposite personalities and common problems. Debra has to learn to navigate the world in which comedy has been more delicate and Ava has to mature. In this toxic relationship, full of betrayals and fights, the two evolved into a potential friendship that was cut off harshly (and purposelessly).
In the first two episodes of the season we meet the two again, a year later, but, what a surprise, still. Debra is now a success, unlike at the beginning, but her popularity hinders “her art”. People laugh with her for nothing, and that’s not how comedy is done.

Ava is the only one who understands her, but the screenwriter is still resentful of the cold way she was dismissed at the end of season 2 and, therefore, still hurt. More of the same, right? And it is, but the chemistry is undeniable and safe to repeat.
There are only eight episodes, and in two there is no real story to surprise us. See how it goes!
