Actress Samantha Morton has had a busy year. Currently finishing the recordings of the series The Serpent Queen, she was announced in the cast of the film She Said, which will recount the reports of The New York Times that led to the downfall of businessman Harvey Weinstein.
In the film, which will star Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan, Samantha will play Weinstein’s former assistant Zelda Perkins. Zelda, who ran the producer’s office in London, was one of the first women to sue him in court, in the early 2000s, after learning of harassment against another assistant. Zelda, however, had to sign a non-disclosure document that eventually allowed Weinstein to maintain his criminal behavior. She gives a very important testimonial in the HBO documentary Catch and Kill, remembering the fact.
Also in the cast have confirmed Patricia Clarkson and Andre Braugher, as editors of the newspaper. It’s unclear whether Harvey will be played by an actor or just referenced in the story.
