I have to warn you that in terms of theories I… I was wrong! It’s ugly.
Well, I fell right out of the script trap and let the real culprits of Only Murders in the Building season 2 pass.
So on my list of suspects, the murder of Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell) involved more than one person, which was true, but far from the pair I charged. Yes, the motive was greed, and yes, because it was revealed in the episode, Detective Daniel Kreps (Michael Rapaport) was involved. But his partner was neither Charles’ (Steve Martin) ex-girlfriend nor Cinda Canning (Tina Fey), but the podcaster’s assistant, Poppy White (Adina Verson). That’s right, everything else was a distraction.
And, as we already knew there will be the third round, the episode ends with the next crime that happens once again close to the trio (but away from Arconia): that of actor Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd).
Critics complained about the final alternative that left several facts from season 1 unanswered, but at this point, it makes no difference. Only Murders in the Building addresses with great humor and intelligence our obsession with theorizing, creating suspense and suspects out of thin air, and our obsession with crime. Coming together and with a Martin Short flying, it’s always good fun. We’ll know more in 2023. Worth the wait!
