With the official trailer released, the Internet celebrates the confirmation of award-winning actor Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Ahsoka series. It was he who voiced the villain in the Star Wars Rebels animated series, which is the basis of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka series, but so far – despite having been at the launch press conference – it had not been officially confirmed.

Mads Mikkelsen‘s older brother is not unknown to the general public and already has an International Emmy for Best Actor, he was in the cast of The Killing as well as Russian President Viktor Petrov in House of Cards and the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen in Sherlock.
His contribution to the Star Wars universe won over many fans in particular because Thrawn is a respected antagonist, many hate and fear him and the uncertainty of who would interpret him generated many theories because not all actors who voiced the animation were reused in the series. Outside of Katee Sackoff who managed to play Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian, Rosario Dawson replaced Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano and Rupert Friend entered Kenobi as the Grand Inquisitor in place of Jason Isaacs and so on. But casting him as Thrawn is a good move by Disney because fans loved his calm, impassive way of speaking and made the Grand Admiral even scarier.

Thrawn is a cunning and ruthless Grand Admiral of the Empire who takes control of what’s left of the Imperial fleet and mounts a counter-offensive to bring down the New Republic. He appeared in books published by Timothy Zahn, with blue skin and red eyes, and many expected him in the final Star Wars trilogy, but he didn’t, so when he appeared in Rebels, fans celebrated. Thrawn had greater prominence between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope but was only mentioned when Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), in Season Two of The Mandalorian, reveals to Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) that his priority is to locate the Admiral. Ahsoka doesn’t have an answer, but that’s what we’ll see in the series.
We’ll talk more about everyone soon, for now, May the Force be with everyone!
