We know that the 2024 awards season opens with the Golden Globes, but, due to the 2023 strikes, there is a ‘backlog’ that has kind of punctured the bubble. That’s right, in the dead of Saturday night, Hollywood was already rewarding professionals who stood out this year, with House of the Dragon winning the award for Best Costume Design in a Series.
I know you may be wondering about the timing after all the series was shown in 2022, but what happened was that when it aired two years ago, House of the Dragon had already “lost” the chance to compete that year, and was then a candidate in the next year – 2023 – which was postponed due to the scriptwriters and directors’ strike. Thus, it was only in 2024 that the series team received official recognition with the Emmy for Best Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costume Design.
For those who remember, as an obsessed with costume storytelling, I spoke about the challenge of the team led by Jany Temime and spoke directly with her about the work on House of the Dragon as well.
