Meeting our beloved Bridgerton characters is always a pleasure, but I confess that after Queen Charlotte I feel greater emotion when I see the faithful butler, Brimsley (Sam Clemmett), always at the side of his sovereign (Golda Rosheuvel). And how can you not love it?

Fidelity and Dedication: a story of love and friendship
Since the first season of Bridgerton, the figure of the Queen’s butler has proven to be “different”. Always five steps behind Charlotte, but seeing two steps ahead of her, Brimsley (Hugh Sachs) is a spy, advisor, security guard, and friend, but his true dimension only gains weight with the spin-off Queen Charlotte.
The miniseries was a huge success for the Bridgerton franchise and focused on the story of the English queen’s youth. It can be better than its original source.
The plot revisits the real story of George and Charlotte’s love, challenged by the King’s fragile mental health, and begins when Charlotte comes to London to marry King George III. From that time on, Brimsley was assigned to work for her. A role that he would literally carry out until the end of his days.
“Conquering” Charlotte proved a challenging mission, but Brimsley never gave up or complained: her existence is to ensure the Queen is happy.

Brimsley’s secret, impossible love
In the series, King George III’s “Brimsley” is Reynolds, equally protective of his monarch. Reynolds and Brimsley work together for the Monarchy and their couple’s happiness, falling in love in the process.
Actors Sam Clemmett (Brimsley) and Freddie Dennis (Reynolds) were sensitive in their performances, connecting with fans. The two ‘save’ the couple, without interfering or breaking rules, helping them overcome obstacles while theirs – society’s prejudice – remains insurmountable. In one of the saddest and most romantic scenes in Queen Charlotte, they dance to the sound of I Will Always Love You, but when we return to the present day of Bridgerton, Brimsley is alone. It’s impossible to hold back the tears.

Hope for a happy ending
Many fans, myself included, considered that Reynolds had died over time, but amazingly, that’s not true. Reynolds is alive but estranged from Brimsley.
The person who explained this was the actor Hugh Sachs who, in an interview, commented that there was a deleted scene that would show the reunion of the two older people, years after the ball. te: according to Sachs, the lives of the two ex-lovers would have taken different directions, even if they still loved each other. Quite different, no?
Even though I spent the last two years projecting the worst, now I’m rooting for them to bump into each other again. After all, Bridgerton is about happy endings. Brimsley deserves it.
