As announced in May 2021, after the great success of the character of Queen Charlotte, a character that wasn’t in Julia Quinn‘s books, but actually existed and stole the show in Bridgerton, Shonda Rhimes invested in retelling this monarch’s incredible story, believed to be the first biracial queen of England.
Currently played by Golda Rosheuvel, the series that is in development will maintain the universe we already know in the Netflix series, which means that it will explore the friendship and history of the fictional Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), as well as the matriarch of the Bridgerton, Violet (Ruth Gemmell).

Now the main cast has started to be confirmed, which means that in 2023 we may have more than one Bridgerton option!
While current actresses will repeat their characters in current times, their young versions will have other actresses. India Amarteifio will be the young queen and Arsema Thomas will give life to Lady Danbury. Corey Mylchreest will be the young King George, before he went mad.

For fans of Game of Thrones we can celebrate because Michelle Fairley is in the cast too. She will play the “ambitious and power-hungry” Princess Downager Augusta. And Michele as a protective mother is a role we know very well! Both in GOT and The White Queen.
