The White Lotus Season 4 Begins Filming on the French Riviera

The teaser dropped just hours ago, featuring images of the Riviera and the Château de la Messardière, where what may be the final season of The White Lotus has already begun filming. It doesn’t focus on any specific characters, showing only the setting and a clapperboard.

Filming on the French Riviera, under the direction of Mike White, will bring a new batch of episodes set during the Cannes Film Festival, once again following a new group of guests and employees over the course of a week, the structure that has become a defining trait of the series.

Production is taking place in Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco, and Paris, although the narrative will remain centered on the Côte d’Azur. The Château de la Messardière will serve as the White Lotus du Cap, while the iconic Hôtel Martinez becomes the White Lotus Cannes, reinforcing the show’s tradition of turning real locations into central characters.

The cast follows the now-familiar formula of mixing established names with intriguing choices. Among the highlights are Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Kumail Nanjiani, and Rosie Perez, alongside additional casting that further expands the range of social types and tensions the series explores.

After seasons set in Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, the choice of the Riviera feels not only geographical but symbolic. Cannes, with its blend of glamour, industry, and competition for visibility, offers the ideal backdrop for The White Lotus to continue examining what has always been at its core: money, power, social performance, and the increasingly blurred lines between those who observe and those being observed.

For the most dedicated fans, there is, this time, no confirmation of returning characters, something that has happened in every previous season. Still, one could argue there are no loose ends left. Or are there? Speculation will likely begin soon, especially given the growing connection to the film industry in seasons two and three; familiar faces may well circulate through the festival. Let’s watch closely.
